Commemoration of Integration

Join us as we celebrate diversity and inclusiveness during our Homecoming festivities! The Commemoration of Integration will remember the journey of the first African American students who set foot on Appalachian’s campus more than 50 years ago, and will honor the heroic efforts of African American alumni. Dr. Harry Williams ’86 ’88 ’95, President of Delaware State University, will be the keynote speaker for this event and artist Darrick Claiborne ’95, will present a commemorative painting to honor the history of integration at Appalachian. The event is free and open to the public.
